Correctional Queens extend unbeaten run to seize top spot

Correctional Queens have surged to the top of the Women’s Premier Soccer League standings after maintaining their flawless start to the season with a convincing 2-0 away victory over Chapungu Queens on match-day five.

The win saw Correctional Queens move to 15 points from five matches, preserving their perfect record while underlining their defensive solidity, having yet to concede a goal this season. The league leaders have now scored 13 goals in an impressive opening run.

Their latest triumph came against a previously unbeaten Chapungu Queens side that had entered the fixture boasting four consecutive victories, 25 goals scored and only three conceded.

The defeat brought Chapungu Queens’ strong run to an abrupt halt, dropping them to fourth position on 12 points.

Defending champions Herentals Queens climbed to second place on 13 points after producing the most dominant performance of the weekend, thrashing Rise of Hope Academy 14-0.

Herentals Queens are level on points with Platinum Royals, who occupy third place on goal difference.

Black Rhinos Queens continued their strong start to the campaign with a commanding 5-0 away victory over Cranborne Royals, lifting them to fifth place on 11 points.

Kwekwe Queens sit sixth on 10 points, while Faithdrive and Harare City Queens complete the top eight with seven points each.

At the opposite end of the table, Rise of Hope Academy remain rooted at the bottom without a single point after another heavy defeat.

Ngezi Platinum Queens and Conduit Academy continue to struggle with just one point apiece, while CAPS United Royals hover just above the relegation zone on two points.
