Spotlight on Zim hip hop as Changamire Awards loom

ANTICIPATION is mounting ahead of the 11th edition of the Changamire Hip Hop Awards, set for April 28 in Harare, with the ceremony expected to celebrate excellence and influence within Zimbabwe’s hip-hop scene.

Runna Rulez leads the early nominations buzz after dominating the airwaves over the past year.

Bling4 is also among the standout names, with his hit “PaHarare” gaining traction on both the streets and digital platforms.

Contenders including Saint Floew, Voltz JT and Young Gemini continue to shape the sound of contemporary Zimbabwean hip hop.

Speculation over the final nominees list is intensifying, with industry watchers pointing to several artists who delivered standout releases over the past year.

Among those expected to feature are Holy Ten, Voltz JT and Bagga, all of whom have maintained strong visibility through consistent output and chart-performing tracks.

As momentum builds, the awards are set to spotlight not only musical excellence, but also the growing role of hip hop as a driver of culture, influence and social impact in Zimbabwe.

The full list of nominees is expected to be announced later this Wednesday.
