Veteran actress Memory Bususu dies, leaves lasting legacy in Zimbabwean TV

THE Zimbabwean entertainment industry is in mourning following the death of veteran actress Memory Bususu, who has died at the age of 71.
Bususu, a celebrated and versatile performer, was widely recognised for her roles in popular local television dramas such as Paraffin, Pfuma Ye Nhaka and Ngozi, where she became a familiar and respected face on Zimbabwean screens.
Her career, which spanned several decades, began in the 1970s in Highfield, where she featured in commercial productions under the guidance of Canaan Patterson, an early foundation that shaped a long and distinguished journey in film and television.
The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe paid tribute to Bususu, describing her as a versatile talent whose contribution to local drama and television left a lasting imprint.
Tributes continue to pour in from across the arts sector, with colleagues remembering her as a dedicated and influential figure whose work helped define generations of Zimbabwean storytelling.
