TOUGH outing for Lady Chevrons in opening T20I against New Zealand
A low strike rate with the bat proved costly for Zimbabwe Women as they suffered a 92-run defeat to New Zealand Women in the opening T20 International of the tour in Hamilton this Wednesday.

Chasing a daunting target of 203, Zimbabwe Women struggled to keep up with the required run rate, managing just 110 for four in their 20 overs.

The Lady Chevrons never found momentum, with their innings marked by cautious batting and limited boundary scoring.

New Zealand Women had earlier set the tone with a dominant batting display, posting 202 for one.

Their top order laid a solid foundation, capitalising on loose deliveries and rotating the strike efficiently to maintain pressure throughout the innings.

In contrast, Zimbabwe’s response lacked urgency; despite wickets in hand, the scoring rate remained low, allowing New Zealand to dictate terms and tighten the field.

The result hands New Zealand a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series, while Zimbabwe will be looking to improve their strike rotation and intent with the bat ahead of the second encounter set for Friday.
