THE ICC Under-19 World Cup is igniting passion and pride across Zimbabwe and Namibia as England, Afghanistan and defending champions Australia claimed thrilling wins this Friday.
From the sun-kissed pitches of Harare to the electric atmosphere of Windhoek, the tournament is delivering unforgettable moments.
At Takashinga Cricket Club, England won the toss and elected to bat, posting a total of 210 in their allotted 50 overs.
Pakistan were in trouble from the start, and despite a fightback, they were bowled out for 173. England secured a 37-run win, taking a crucial step in the tournament.
In Windhoek, Ireland batted first and set a target of 236.
The champions Australia chased it down with ease, thanks to Nitesh Samuel’s unbeaten 77, and won by 8 wickets with 62 balls to spare.
The last match of the day saw Afghanistan batting first and posting 266/8, with South Africa responding strongly but ultimately falling short at 238.
Afghanistan took the win by 28 runs, showcasing their determination.
The tournament is heating up, and the competition is fierce as action continues this Saturday, India face off against Bangladesh at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, while Japan take on Sri Lanka at Namibia Cricket Ground.
