THE Zimbabwe Women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, have advanced to the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Africa Qualifier after a dominant 10-wicket victory over Nigeria in their last group match in Namibia this Wednesday.
Nigeria won the toss and chose to bat, but they were rocked by Josephine Nkomo’s impressive five-wicket haul, which restricted them to 90 runs in 19 overs.
The Lady Chevrons then chased down the target with relative ease, reaching 93 runs in just 14 overs.
Modester Mupachikwa scored 36 runs, while Kelis Ndhlovu contributed 44 runs to the team’s victory.
Zimbabwe finished top of Group A with 6 points after a successful group stage campaign in which they were unbeaten.
Zimbabwe are one of eight nations competing for two slots to advance to the Global Qualifiers, the final qualifying stage for the 2026 World Cup which will be held in Nepal.
Zimbabwe’s opponents in the semi-finals are yet to be confirmed.
