ZACC set to open new offices in Marondera

MARONDERA – AS part of efforts to decentralise the fight against corruption, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), is set to open its doors in Marondera.

The announcement was made by ZACC Commissioner and Chairperson of the Prevention and Corporate Governance Committee, Chido Madiwa, during the provincial launch of the anti-illegal land sales campaign held at Mahusekwa Growth Point on Thursday.

“It is my pleasure to announce that ZACC has acquired new offices in Marondera, marking a new era in the fighting against corruption in Mashonaland East. All our services will be offered at our new offices, we want to make sure the fight against corruption spreads even to village level. To those involved in corrupt activities, we call you to resist, refuse, and report corruption,” she said.

Commissioner Madiwa also urged citizens to actively participate in stamping out corruption by resisting, refusing, and reporting all forms of corrupt practices.

The move by ZACC is in line with the government’s broader devolution and decentralisation agenda, aimed at empowering communities and enhancing local service delivery, as guided by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.

Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo, welcomed the decentralisation of ZACC’s services and issued a strong warning to those involved in illegal land sales.

“The issue of illegal land sales, if ignored, will interfere with the development and attainment of Vision 2030. To our Chiefs and village heads, you are the stewards and custodians of your communities. Your leadership is essential in guiding people towards responsible land use. The Second Republic, under the astute leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is committed to fostering smart cities and proper settlements,” he said.

He also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to fostering orderly settlements and smart cities under the Second Republic.

“We will not allow land barons and illegal dealers to undermine progress in Mashonaland East. This province must become a model of proper development and compliance with planning regulations,” he said.

The anti-land parcelling campaign, launched in Mahusekwa, is set to be rolled out across all districts in the province, as ZACC intensifies its outreach and enforcement efforts at grassroots level.

The establishment of the Marondera office signals a deliberate effort by the Commission to strengthen its provincial presence and address corruption cases more effectively within local communities.
