A delegation of over 100 people from Chegutu District, including ZANU PF returnees, teachers, and members of the security sector, has embarked on a tour of Chimoio, Mozambique, to gain deeper insights into the country’s liberation struggle history.

As part of the visit, the delegation will undergo an induction on the ruling party’s ideology, aligning with efforts to strengthen political awareness and unity.

Meanwhile, the Second Republic’s inclusive development policies continue to make an impact, with over 500 opposition supporters from Chegutu returning to ZANU PF, citing renewed confidence in the party’s leadership and governance approach.

“We were fighting the ruling party for meaningful development but now we have embraced the drive by the Second Republic where emphasis is on self-actualisation under the mantra ‘Nyika Inovakwa Ne Vene Vayo,” returnee Mr Ephraim Chinja said.

“We are happy with the leadership of President Mnangagwa and his vision of leaving no one and no place behind,” former opposition legislator, Mr Gift Konjana added.

The ZANU PF leadership in Mashonaland West Province is impressed by the overwhelming number of returnees charmed by the ruling party’s inclusive development agenda.

“This is the first phase to be sent off to Chimoio for a familiarisation visit to complement what we are doing at the Chitepo School of Ideology. What is impressive the most is the fact that women are dominating the numbers. This is a plus for us as the ruling party because they also occupy the biggest voting constituency and this response means that we are implementing programmes that impact their communities,” ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Chairperson, Cde Mary Mliswa Chikoka said.

“This initiative to send them to Mozambique will deepen their understanding that we need to safeguard the gains of the independence because lives were lost for the freedom we enjoy today,” ZANU PF Chegutu District Coordinating Committee, Cde Brian Chinyama noted.

Meanwhile, the ZANU PF returnees programme, Kumusha, Home, Ekhaya (KHE) has attracted over 200 000 former opposition supporters countrywide since its launch in 2023.
