President Emmerson Mnangagwa says the urgent challenge in the mining sector is not to only produce more but to also produce better .
The Head of State who was speaking during the official opening of the 27th edition of the Mining , Engineering and Transport Expo (Mine ENTRA) in Bulawayo this Thursday said the benefits of mining should extend beyond mere extractive processes to positively impact communities.
President Mnangagwa also highlighted that in order to ensure long term viability , innovation has a critical role in the mining sector and must be scaled up .
He said the innovation and technology nexus should result in not only improved efficiencies, reduced costs and adherence to the concerns of communities and regulatory authorities but the accelerated industrialisation and modernisation of the country.
