Ngezi Platinum Stars came from behind on two occasions to beat Bulawayo Chiefs 4-2 in an electrifying match at Baobab Stadium this Wednesday to book the last spot in the Chibuku Super Cup quarterfinals.
The thrilling encounter saw the Premier Soccer League reigning champions, Ngezi Platinum, rising to the occasion to eliminate Bulawayo Chiefs from the Chibuku Super Cup courtesy of a 4-2 scoreline.
The match got off to a flying start with Bulawayo Chiefs taking the lead through Reason Sibanda’s 6th-minute goal.
However, Ngezi Platinum levelled the score 15 minutes later through an own goal from a Chiefs defender.
The Chiefs regained their lead in the 33rd minute through Bhukosi Sibanda’s shot, but Ngezi Platinum found an equaliser in the second half through Farai Madhanhanga’s effort.
From then, Ngezi Platinum Stars never looked back as two late goals ensured the Mhondoro Ngezi-based side book a place in the quarter-finals.
They will join Dynamos, Highlanders, CAPS United, FC Platinum, Manica Diamonds, Yadah, and Simba Bhora in the quarterfinals, whose draw is pencilled for Friday.
