The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is set to celebrate its 14th anniversary with an Open day for the public on Monday.
The 10th of June has become an important day on the JSC calendar as the Commission celebrates its rebirth.
This year’s commemorations will be an opportunity for the JSC to celebrate notable achievements recorded over the past 14 years which include decentralising the court system.
“Since 2010 there are a number of targets that the Commission set and we take pride that as we celebrate 14 years of existence we have managed to achieve quite a number of what we wanted. We have managed to construct courthouses throughout the country as we want to bring justice to the people’s doorsteps. We introduced the IECMS and we have also managed to introduce public interviews for judges something that improves transparency,” said the Deputy Head of Corporate Services JSC, Mr Daniel Nemukuyu.
As part of the celebrations, the JSC will host an Open Day which will provide a platform for the commission to interact with the public for knowledge exchange.
He added, “The open day allows us as the JSC to interact with the public so that they have an appreciation of how courts are run. We are also going to take the opportunity to launch the campaign for the fourth phase of the IECMS which will see the digitalisation of the magistrates’ court.”
The Open Day will be held at all court houses across the country.
