THE Zimbabwe A women’s cricket team has secured a spot in the final of the Kwibuka Women’s T20 tournament, despite a six-wicket defeat to hosts Rwanda in their final group match this Friday.
Zimbabwe A batted first, posting a total of 127 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs.
Loryn Phiri top-scored with 58 and she was ably assisted by Chiyedza Dhururu with 42.
Rwanda, however, chased down the target with ease, after getting to 130 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 19 overs.
The star of the show was Henriette Ishimwe who top scored with 46 while there was also a handy 29 from Clarisse Uwase.
Despite the loss, Zimbabwe A advances to the final, where they will face Uganda on Saturday.
Zimbabwe A and Rwanda are both on 10 points, but Zimbabwe A have a superior net run rate of 2.062.
