Business skills training for creatives entrepreneurs

Story by Justin Mahlahla

Creative artists and entrepreneurs this Thursday attended a business development workshop meant to equip them with skills to penetrate global markets.

The workshop, ran by a local creative hub, Skug Market, covered topics such as practical financial training, brand visibility, resilience in business and competitor analysis.

According to Skug Market co-founder and trainer, Nomvula Mhambi, the training was tailored for creative artists who will be accommodated on the Skug Market’s e-commerce platform.

“My intention is resolute. I am driven to elevate Zimbabwean brands onto the global stage. Furthermore, I am impassioned about celebrating the remarkable talents of our artists and creatives as agents of profound societal and cultural change,” Mhambi said.

She added, “Our objective is to empower individuals to make deliberate choices in favour of Zimbabwean products, thereby fueling the growth of our nation with every purchase we make. The dividends of our investment will far exceed the costs. Together, we will transport our goods not just across borders, but also towards a future where Zimbabwe shines brighter than ever before.”

The Skug market platform is about showcasing the abundance of Zimbabwean talent and the endless opportunities for economic development.

It is a gateway to economic empowerment and demands individuals who recognise its potential to reshape industries, akin to investing in mining or agriculture, says Mhambi.

Skug Market prioritises Zimbabwean goods and amplifies creatives’ voices across all platforms, thereby promoting the country’s brand through art.
