THE 2025 tobacco marketing season has officially ended, with record-breaking deliveries of more than 350 million kilogrammes.
The marketing season broke records and set the nation as one of the largest producers of the golden leaf.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) revealed that deliveries at both auction and contract floors went slightly above 353 million kilogrammes against a target of 320 million kilogrammes.
The figures are also a huge improvement from the 230 million kilogrammes recorded last year.
Deliveries are expected to increase given the mop-up sales slated for August 27, 2025.
Another positive from this year’s marketing season is the value of the sold tobacco, which stood at over US$1.1 billion as compared to just above US$790 million.
Statistics from the TIMB also reflect improved quality of delivered tobacco, with the average price at US$3.55 at auction floors and US$3.31 at the contract floors.
