Zim’s tiny miracle: 405g baby defies the odds

By Lisa Masuku

A severely premature baby girl, born weighing just 405g at 28 weeks, has become one of Zimbabwe’s smallest recorded survivors.

Baby Christwish Chingini was born on 30 November 2024 at United Bulawayo Hospitals and has spent the past four months under specialised care. Now weighing 1.8kg, she has made remarkable progress.

On Friday afternoon, doctors discharged Christwish, declaring her healthy and ready to be cared for at home by her mother.
