Zim’s export market diversification plan attracts global buyers

ZIMBABWE’S export market diversification has so far attracted 15 regional and global buyers who are exploring trade opportunities across multiple sectors as the Zimbabwe Export Week continues.

Local businesspeople are engaging international buyers to boost market growth, identify products and services on demand, strengthening Zimbabwe’s position as a key source market for global economies.

“France is also looking into these strategic opportunities in Zimbabwe, mainly in the mining and agriculture industries. It is within that perspective where the thrust is to look into aspects that can unlock value and boost the entire trade value chains,” said Exito Sabroso buyer, Mr Frederic Dalmasie.

“South Africa is a key trading partner for Zimbabwe, so this is the right time to further tap into the neighbouring market. Remember, we have our operations locally, so it is a matter of just consolidating the existing opportunities,” said Pickn Pay, South Africa, Sourcing and Compliance Manager, Ms Betty Thaba.

Authorities are confident that the buyers programme will boost exports and contribute significantly to foreign currency inflows.
