EMMANUEL Golf Academy has qualified for the 2025 Junior Golf World Cup after an impressive performance at the annual Kids Golf World Cup Qualifiers held this week at Seasons Eco Golf Estate in South Africa.
The academy, which consists of golfers from Emmanuel College, won two gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals.
A total of 64 golfers from 10 countries participated in the qualifiers, including hosts South Africa, the United Kingdom, France, China, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe dominated the competition, winning all the medals in the Under 14 Girls category and securing another gold in the Under 15-18 Girls category.
However, the Under 15 Boys team finished with a wooden spoon.
The patron of the academy, who also serves as the coach, expressed great delight at the team’s qualification for the World Cup.
“The World Cup qualifier is never an easy challenge, and we were also playing in championship courses,” Charles Kamba said.
“They did their best and, with the preparations that we had made before the tournament, it paid off. We need more game time and more golf sessions, as well as working on one or two rules looking ahead. If we play more and more different courses, I think we will be okay.”
Their exploits in South Africa have opened up more doors for the Academy after being invited to the Ireland Junior Tour, Asia Tour and the Pepsi Little People’s Golf in America among others.
