PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe is ready to welcome global investments and partnerships that are fair and aligned with the country’s national interests, addressing diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe at the New Year’s Reception for the Diplomatic Corps on Thursday.
The annual event at the Harare International Conference Centre provides a platform for Zimbabwe to update foreign envoys on national developments and reaffirm diplomatic ties. During his address, President Mnangagwa highlighted steady economic progress over the past year and emphasised the importance of transparency and fairness in investment partnerships.
“Zimbabwe will always be ready to welcome investors, provided engagements are transparent and mutually beneficial,” he said.
The President also drew attention to the impact of climate change on agriculture and livelihoods, urging greater international cooperation and predictable climate financing to support adaptation and sustainable development.
President Mnangagwa used the occasion to reaffirm Zimbabwe’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, noting the country’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to global governance and peace initiatives.
Diplomats at the event were acknowledged as “builders of bridges,” with the President noting the importance of accurate and objective reporting to their capitals to strengthen international understanding and cooperation.
The reception underscored Zimbabwe’s commitment to fostering productive global partnerships, promoting investment, and tackling shared challenges such as climate change.
