ZIMBABWE is stepping up efforts to align its Intellectual Property (IP) system with the national development agenda through targeted reforms and strategic capacity-building initiatives aimed at unlocking innovation and driving sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at a high-level African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO) session in Ghana this Friday, the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Honourable Ziyambi Ziyambi, highlighted the key measures being implemented to modernise the country’s IP framework and position it as a vital pillar of Vision 2030.
He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to building a modern, inclusive, and regionally harmonised IP ecosystem, a key driver for economic transformation, competitiveness, and cultural preservation.
“The transformative initiatives highlighted by Honourable Ziyambi include the Small to Medium Enterprises Mentorship Programme and the Master’s in Intellectual Property jointly offered by World Intellectual Property Organisation, ARIPO, and Africa University,” he said.
These institutions are already equipping Zimbabwean entrepreneurs, legal minds, and policymakers with the skills to navigate and influence the dynamic Intellectual Property landscape.
