ZIMBABWE is entering uncharted territory as the national football team, the Warriors, take on two simultaneous assignments on the international stage.

The Warriors will battle on two fronts as one team is in Morocco ready to take on Burkina Faso and Niger in international friendlies, starting this Wednesday.

On the same day, another set of Warriors mainly comprising youngsters will also be battling at the 2025 COSAFA Cup where they are set to face Mauritius.

The Warriors are using the friendly matches in Morocco to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations set for December and the World Cup Qualifiers later this year.

“We want to give many players an opportunity to showcase their skills. We are using these matches to prepare so we want everyone to be ready when the time comes,” Warriors coach Michael Nees noted.

The younger squad in South Africa for the COSAFA Cup is being earmarked for the 2028 Olympic qualifiers which start next year.

The squad has young players like Nathan Mutasa of Scottland, who replaced Dynamos midfielder Vusa Ngwenya who did not have a passport, Finland-based midfielder Prosper Padera and winger Mafios Chiweta of Highlanders.
