ZIMBABWE and Singapore are looking at continued cooperation in a number of fields that include human capital development, trade and investment, along with tourism opportunities.

With trade relations between the two countries cordial, Zimbabwe and Singapore are looking at how the ties can be deepened.

Speaking after meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira this Thursday, Singapore envoy to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Zainal Arif Mantaha said there is a need for more efforts to increase mutual awareness between Singapore and the Zimbabwean business communities so that both countries benefit from economic opportunities that exist.

“There is a need for more efforts to increase mutual awareness between the Singapore business community and the Zimbabwean business community. We have been noticing that there have been great developments taking place on the African continent and that means great opportunities for us. We would like to contribute to the development of Africa, particularly Zimbabwe.

“We have already trained more than 350 senior officials from Zimbabwe in different sectors including aviation, trade facilitation and also in building leadership. The Minister and I also discussed more cooperation in the areas of innovation in science and technology and the development of start-ups.”

Zimbabwe and Singapore’s cooperation is largely on trade in machinery, fruits, tobacco and cereals.
