ALL is set for the SADC Sustainable Energy Week to be held in Victoria Falls later this month, as the Government intensifies efforts to spearhead the elimination of energy poverty across the region.
The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Honourable July Moyo, says more than 500 delegates from the region will attend as SADC seeks to plug the regional energy deficit of more than 4 000 megawatts of electricity.
“The Energy Week will create a platform where the region will seek to ameliorate power challenges faced by member countries by presenting sustainable solutions to harness investment into renewable energy. More than 500 delegates will attend the week-long conference, while at least forty exhibitors will take part in showcasing their renewable energy offerings.
“The region has a power deficit to the tune of more than 4 000 megawatts of electricity hence this conference, which is the second edition to be held and it wiĺl be instrumental in driving the region’s energy sustenance. President Emmerson Mnangagwa will officially launch the event,” he said.
