Zim creatives embrace new currency

Story by Patience Nyagato, Arts Reporter

CREATIVES have pledged support for government initiatives with the new currency receiving acclaim from musicians and actors.

Dubbed ‘Zig mari,’ the song by Ras Caleb currently trending on social media platforms is among some of the initiatives by artists to promote and support government initiatives.

In the song, Ras Caleb added that the introduction of the new currency is a positive development in the country’s quest for financial independence and stability.

“I love my country Zimbabwe and this song was inspired by the need to raise awareness on our currency. As a nation, we should be proud of our own and I think any other person should,” he said.

The Chillspot stable is also rallying behind the new ZiG currency after introducing a ZiG challenge.

“We are in support of the new currency. We have created a new challenge known as ZiG challenge. A riddim is also coming featuring more than 50 artists. We know the new currency is the way to go and we are in support of it,” said music producer at Chillspot Records, DJ Fantan.

Apart from musicians, comedians have not been left out with Admire Kazhangaire known as ‘Bhutisi’ also joining the movement with skits.
