ZBC dominates TV viewership, radio listenership

Story by Tendai Munengwa

THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation continues to dominate television viewership and radio listenership in the country.

This came out of the Zimbabwe all Media and Producers Survey (ZAMPS) report published in Harare this Tuesday.

The ZAMPS report shows that the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) television’s programming is the favourite among viewers, with the Main News being the most followed programme in the country.

ZBC has pledged to continuously improve its programming.

“We are happy that from this years’ ZAMPS report, we have three of our radio stations in the top five, while we maintained pole position as the most viewed television. Our Main News is rated as the most followed programme. So this will send a clear message to advertisers that ZBC is the media house to market their brands with,” said ZBC’s director of Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement, Mr Fredius Dzumbunu

The ZAMPS board says results are derived from extensive research.

“The results gives national perspective for the marketers and advertisers to have an understanding on which media house to do business with,” said ZAMPS board chairperson, Mr Liberty Kashanje.

According to the 2024 ZAMPS results, ZBC TV Main News has 67% viewership, while National FM radio has 31% listenership.

ZAMPS is an independent board mandated to monitor and undertake the independent market research on behalf of advertisers, the media, publishers, advertising agencies and public relations consultants in the country.
