ZIMBABWE Football Association (ZIFA) Chief Executive Officer Yvonne Manwa says she is leaving office with a sense of pride after steering the association through a challenging and turbulent period.
Manwa, whose contract is set to expire at the end of this year, will walk away after nearly three years in charge of local football, having been appointed by the Normalisation Committee in 2022.
She notes that despite the difficulties faced during her tenure, significant strides were made to stabilise operations and restore confidence in the administration of local football.
“I am happy the association is now stable. I took charge at a difficult time during the Normalisation Committee when Zimbabwe was under suspension and had to make sure that football was back, as well as setting up structures for the game to thrive on its return. I believe we did our best and now there is a new board that is trying to resuscitate local football and bring back corporate trust in football it’s really a difficult thing because the image of ZIFA is not good but they are doing their best to repair it and I believe in a year or so most of the good work the board is doing will clearly be visible,” she said.
She is confident the incumbent ZIFA board will continue to steer local football in the right direction.
