THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Coorporation (ZBC) radio stations took their final interactive tour to Chiredzi town were thousands of people converged at Tshovani Stadium for the exciting event.
Besides being treated to an entertainment-filled night, the radio listeners in Chiredzi were awarded a platform to meet and greet their favourite radio presenters while local artists from across the country who include Solo Moyo performed at the event.
Xangani traditional dance groups left the crowd asking for more as the dancers were out to dazzle with fancy footwork and body movement.
“We are grateful for what ZBC has done for us, we had a platform to learn more about our radio stations. We had an opportunity to meet with the radio presenters which was fun,” said a Chiredzi resident.
“As Chiredzi people we are happy because of this programme. We would only listen to the radio ,it’s good to experience this moment where we meet and even talk to our favourite radio personalities,” added another.
ZBC Director Radio Services, Mr Albert Chekayi reiterated the importance of such programmes in fulfilling the mandate of the media and entertainment industry.
“Today marks the end of our more than a week long mega tour that we dubbed ZBC Radio Mega Tour, which started on Saturday in Epworth and we are capping it in Chiredzi. As radio services, let’s know that we are a public broadcaster and our number one mandate is to make sure we entertain the populace and when we entertain them, we increase their happiness. An entertained population is a healthy population,” Mr Chekayi said.
The week long ZBC Radio Mega Tour which ended this Saturday was part of initiatives by the national broadcaster to promote inclusive programming.
