ZANU PF candidate Cde Tsitsi Tawomhera has won the Glen View south constituency by election after garnering 3 404 votes.
Tsitsi Tawomhera of the ZANU PF party was declared the winner a the results were confirmed by Glen View South chief elections officer, Killian Gambe, who stated that the voting process was peaceful, smooth, and conducted in accordance with electoral laws.
The seat fell vacant after the death of CCC legislator Grandmore Hakata.
“I am excited to have won and we are continuing with the development agenda that we started in this constituency,” Cde Tawomhera said.
Residents and the electorate are confident that cde Tawomhera will continue with the development trajectory being already witnessed in the constituency.
“We have seen roads being rehabilitated and boreholes being sunk, we are happy that we have claimed Glen View which is now being represented by a youth.
ZANU PF Harare Province Chairman, Cde Godwills Masimirembwa attributed the victory to the development pace that the ZANU PF party has set in motion.
“Our visionary leader has put development ahead of everything, as Harare Province we are confident that the candidate representing the party will do more.
Independent candidate Tonderai Chakeredza secured 993 votes, while fellow independents George Makwangwadze got 681 and Tungamirai Madzokere garnered 234 votes. Perpetua Mukanda of the National Constitutional Assembly received 77 votes
National Constitutional Assembly member Perpetua Mukanda got 77 votes.
Meanwhile in a council by election held In Ward 19 in Rushinga district of Mt Darwin Trinity Madzinga of Zanu PF won the by election garnering 784 votes, while Independent candidate Itai Kwahwiti got 19 votes.
