HARARE – THE President and First Secretary of ZANU PF, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, says the ruling party remains committed to the transformation of livelihoods across communities.
The President was addressing delegates at the 25th ZANU PF National Consultative Assembly (NCA) held at the party headquarters in Harare this Friday.
The 25th NCA meeting brought together members from across the country, as the ruling party continues to strengthen its structures and reflect on achievements realised to date.
In his address, President Mnangagwa said that despite illegal economic sanctions and climate-induced disasters, the Second Republic has recorded unprecedented successes.
“The sacrifice of the many sons and daughters of Zimbabwe, which brought about our independence and freedom, is a source of inspiration to the Party and the people of our great country. This has seen us achieving unprecedented success milestones under the Second Republic.
“ZANU PF continues to stand with the people of our beloved motherland in facing the illegal sanctions and climate-induced disasters, among other challenges. ZANU PF is one with the people. I want to commend both the leadership and membership for the achievements we are attaining at both our Party and Government levels,” he said.
President Mnangagwa emphasised that the party will continue to direct its energies towards increasing production and productivity, while more developmental projects will be rolled out.
”Through you, our Party ZANU PF carries the weighty responsibility to facilitate development that leaves no one and no place behind. Let us use our different positions in the party to uplift our constituencies. The Party is alive and responding to the broader development needs of both present and future generations. To date, we have rolled out the Presidential Youth, War Veterans, and Vendor’s Empowerment Schemes, among others.
“These initiatives are seeing high-impact results, including improving the incomes and livelihoods of our people. The NCA is assured that our ZANU PF Party will continue to pay particular attention to increasing production and productivity in the agriculture sector, as well as through the village business units. More boreholes will be drilled at the village level, while inputs under the pfumvudza/Intwasa programme will continue to be distributed in good time,” he said.
ZANU PF has embarked on inclusive projects across the country, with resources for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the country’s road network having been secured.
”The rehabilitation and construction of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road has begun. Other toad projects include Birchenough-Chipinge road and Murambinda-Mudanda. There is increased economic activity in the countryside, driven by our rural industrialisation projects and the expanding mining sector. To release pressure off our roads, the resuscitation and modernisation of our national railways is now an urgent priority, which the government is seized with. Let us, however, remain vigilant against those who may attempt to undermine our country’s progress, economy, and national image,” he said.
The National Consultative Assembly meeting also noted the milestones achieved by the Second Republic, from agriculture to the mining sector and called for unity of purpose to ensure more transformative projects are rolled out to improve livelihoods in communities.
