The ZANU PF-led government has pledged to continue working with the church in propelling community development and improving livelihoods.
This comes as the Presidential Borehole Sinking Programme has been extended to churches, with the ZAOGA congregation in Chivi benefitting from the initiative.
“As a church, we appreciate this development as it will go a long way in promoting hygiene at the same time enabling us to do projects like horticulture and poultry,” said a member of the church.
Another said, “Apart from benefitting the church here in Chivi, there are a lot of water challenges and people in the CBD will be coming here for clean and safe water, hence we appreciate such projects. We thank President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his leadership, including our Member of Parliament, Honorable Xavier Maoneke, who pledged this borehole for us.”
The church plays an important role in ensuring development in various communities hence the ruling party is ready to collaborate with religious organisations in transforming people’s lives.
Chivi Central Legislator Honorable Xavier Maoneke noted, “As a party we work with all pro-development organisations and the church is one of them. Our President supports development, hence we decided to put a borehole here such that it benefits church members and the whole community. It’s now up to them to do some projects here like gardening and poultry.”
The ZANU PF leadership also handed over donations to the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe.
The church is an active player in national development where various religious organisations are working with government in infrastructure development to improve people’s lives.
