ZANU PF Mashonaland East Province has described Zimbabwe’s recent election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council as a significant vote of confidence in the country’s leadership and foreign policy direction under President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The provincial leadership said the development reflects the success of the Second Republic’s engagement and re-engagement agenda, which has sought to strengthen Zimbabwe’s standing within the international community.

Speaking at a party event, ZANU PF Mashonaland East Provincial Chairperson, Cde Daniel Garwe said Zimbabwe’s election to the UN Security Council demonstrates growing international confidence in the country.

“Zimbabwe’s election to the United Nations Security Council shows that the world has confidence in the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa, after the country secured 182 votes out of 191. It is an endorsement of His Excellency’s leadership qualities and, by extension, an endorsement of Constitutional Amendment No. 3. CAB 3 has been accepted at the highest levels of global political leadership. We thank the President for his soft diplomacy, which has helped Zimbabwe regain its place on the world stage,” said Cde Garwe.

Also addressing the gathering, ZANU PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs in the Politburo, Cde Marble Chinomona commended legislators and residents of Mashonaland East Province for supporting the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill.

“I would like to thank legislators and the people of Mashonaland East for standing resolutely behind the success of CAB 3. As our Chairperson always says, CAB 3 is unstoppable. I urge all party members to remain united,” she said.

The Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill is currently before the National Assembly, where the majority of Members of Parliament have expressed support for the proposed amendments.
