THE ruling ZANU PF party has intensified its campaigns in Harare’s Glenview South constituency ahead of the by-election slated for Saturday this week.
As the campaign trail continues, the ZANU PF Women’s League was at Glenview Community Hall this Wednesday, where hundreds were handed day-old chicks to start poultry projects.
“We are happy that the party is walking the talk. Empowering us is one way to convince us that voting for them is the right choice,” a Glen View resident said.
“Come Saturday we will vote for ZANU PF because they have shown us that they have people at heart. We were given layers and we are going to start businesses that will help our families,” another noted.
ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary for External Affairs, Cde Betty Kaseke said the party is optimistic that its candidate, Cde Tsitsi Tawomhera will be victorious come Saturday’s by-election.
“We are anchoring our campaign on empowerment and we are delivering. As the women’s league, we made a promise to the women of Glenview that we will empower them through various projects and that is exactly what we are doing.”
Five candidates namely: Tsitsi Tawomera of ZANU-PF, Perpetua Mukanda of NCA, three independent candidates George Makwangwaidze, Tonderai Chakeredza and Tungamirai Madzokere will battle it out in the Glenview South by-election this Saturday.
The by-election was prompted by the death of legislator, Gladmore Hakata in January this year.
