THE ruling ZANU-PF party is confident of romping to victory in the Glen View South Constituency by-elections slated for April 12.
A meeting to introduce aspiring candidates in Harare this Friday saw the ZANU PF Harare provincial leadership concurring with the party’s determination to wrestle the constituency from the opposition.
“We are convinced that we are going to claim the Glen View Constituency seat come April 12. It is high time we claim back this constituency from the opposition because our people have suffered enough in the hands of the opposition. Coming to our candidates, we do not want violence on Sunday. We do not want bouncers. You can be disqualified and arrested.
“Please, let us peacefully have our by-elections, and the law enforcement agents will be in full force. We have to come and choose our candidates peacefully and go home and wait for our results,” ZANU-PF Harare Province Chairperson Cde Godwills Masimirembwa said.
ZANU-PF Politburo member Cde Paul Mangwana called for unity of purpose among party members.
“Let us unite and do our by-elections in a peaceful manner. We want victory and to claim Glenview Constituency back to ZANU-PF.”
ZANU PF will hold primary elections to choose the party candidate for the by-election this weekend, with Cdes Tsitsi Taomera, Brian Muchakati, Jabulani MbetuTawanda Utete set to battle it out for the sole ticket.
The Glenview South National Assembly seat fell vacant after the death of Honourable Gladmore Hakata of the Citizens Coalition for Change in January this year.
