ZANU PF Harare Province has wrapped up its inter-district meetings in the capital, reaffirming support for the decision to persuade President Emmerson Mnangagwa to lead the nation beyond 2028.
The party’s decision, known as Resolution Number One, was made at the ZANU PF National People’s Conference in Mutare last month.
The last leg of the meetings was held at Rufaro Stadium in Mbare on Tuesday, with the event providing a platform for the provincial leadership to give feedback from the party’s annual national people’s conference held in Mutare in October this year.
During the gathering, leaders highlighted key resolutions and emphasised the visible economic transformation being spearheaded by the Second Republic under the leadership of President Mnangagwa.
“It is the duty of politics to safeguard our economy and our legacy. That is why we are saying in ZANU-PF, let us continue to unite. The purpose of the inter-district meeting was to give feedback on resolution number one and empower communities. The resolution is now demanding implementation, and the work is now with the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Honourable Ziyambi Ziyambi, to have a look at that. We need to support the vision of President Mnangagwa of building our economy,” ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said.
“As Harare Province, we are happy with the transformation which is taking place in Harare. In terms of health infrastructure, we have a clinic in Harare South, which was commissioned by His Excellency President Mnangagwa. In terms of engagement and re-engagement, I want to thank the government, we are witnessing a number of investors who are coming to invest in the country,” ZANU PF Politburo member, Cde Charles Tawengwa added.
“We want to thank President Mnangagwa and, under his leadership, Zimbabwe has been recognised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the fastest-growing economy in the SADC region, with GDP surging from US$17 billion to US$52.3 billion. Government revenue has nearly tripled from US$2.7 billion to US$8 billion, while foreign exchange reserves rose from zero to US$900 million. Per capita income has also increased significantly from US$1 000 to US$3 300. The debt-to-GDP ratio stands at a healthy position. In the real estate sector, the formal contribution to GDP is estimated at US$1.5 billion (2.8%), though experts say the true value, including informal activity, could reach US$10 billion. Government is actively working to integrate these figures into national accounts,” ZANU PF Central Committee member, Cde Kudakwashe Tagwirei stated.
The meeting also reinforced the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation and consolidating gains ahead of future national programmes, with a total of US$1.6 million having been disbursed so far for Harare Province.
“We are happy with President Mnangagwa’s leadership. He is delivering on development. He has done so much for us, from clinics, boreholes and everything we need,” a ZANU PF member said.
“Under the President’s leadership, we are seeing real change in our communities. We support him fully and thank him for remembering us. His vision is changing lives on the ground,” another added.
Gogo Whiza of Mbare and her family were also honoured by President Mnangagwa for providing shelter to liberation struggle fighters during the war.
