THE Zimbabwe-Zambia International Senior Volleyball National Team Friendlies got off to an action-packed start, with Zambia asserting early dominance in the senior fixtures held on Day One of the friendly series, at Sunrise Sports Club in Harare this Saturday.
In the men’s category, the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s Team opened their campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over the Zimbabwe Under-20 side, showing their experience and tactical superiority.
However, Zambia’s Senior Men’s Team proved too strong for both local sides.
They dispatched the Zimbabwe Under-20s in straight sets (3-0) before rounding off the day with a commanding 3-0 win over the Zimbabwe Senior Team, underlining their intent in the regional series.
The ladies’ encounter also went in favour of the visitors, with Zambia’s Senior Women’s Team beating Zimbabwe’s ladies 3-0 in what was a challenging outing for the hosts.
The friendlies, designed to build competitiveness, provide exposure for junior players, and strengthen ties between the two nations, continue throughout the weekend with more matches lined up.
All eyes will be on Zimbabwe’s response on Day 2 this Sunday at the same venue, as the teams aim to bounce back and restore pride on home court.
