ZIMBABWE’S Young Chevrons hopes of a strong finish in their ICC U19 World Cup campaign were dented after a crushing 8-wicket defeat to England at Takashinga Cricket Club this Sunday.

The co-hosts posted a competitive 208 runs for a loss of 9 wickets, thanks to solid performances from Ben Mayes (77), and Thomas Rew (86), who struck 3 fours and 4 sixes, and 7 fours.

However, England chased down the target with ease, losing just 2 wickets in the process.

The English side won the match with 132 balls remaining, showcasing their batting prowess.

Zimbabwe now look to bounce back from this defeat when they meet with familiar foes Pakistan on Thursday.

The tournament continues on Monday with Pakistan facing Scotland, Sri Lanka taking on Ireland, and South Africa playing Tanzania.
