The Warriors Select lifted the 2024 ZDF Cup after beating the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Select side 1-0 at Rufaro Stadium this Tuesday.
At a packed stadium, Warriors trialist and Simba Bhora striker, Tymon Machope ensured that those who did not know him got a true picture of his qualities.
The lanky striker scored the solitary goal in an entertaining match to give the Warriors Select side a win in the 2024 ZDF Cup.
Watched by their Commander, General Phillip Valerio Sibanda, the ZDF side tried to come back into the game, but found the Warriors defence unyielding.
The decider of the match was ecstatic.
“As a striker you are always happy when you are scoring, so I am glad I continue with the good form. This season hopefully that will open more doors for me,” said Machope.
The Warriors Select were handed thier trophy and the US$19 500 cheque by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Brigadier General (Rtd) Levi Mayihlome, while the Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Emily Jesaya and Director Sport and Recreation, Dr Eugenia Chidhakwa were among the dignitaries who graced the match.
