THANDOLWENKOSI NGWENYA’S brace was not enough to send the Warriors to the semi-finals of the COSAFA Cup after the team finishing second in Group A behind South Africa on goal difference.
Zimbabwe thumped neighbours Mozambique 3-1 at the Toyota Stadium in South Africa this Tuesday afternoon to secure their first win of the tournament with FC Platinum striker, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya scoring twice.
Junior Makunike scored the third for Zimbabwe in injury time after Mozambique had pulled one back.
The result saw the Zimbabwe developmental side finishing on four points, level with South Africa, but missing out on semi-final qualification on goal difference.
Zimbabwe drew nil-all with Mauritius in their first Group A match before losing to South Africa in the penultimate match of the pool stage, leaving themselves with much to do in the final group game.
