Vice President Colonel (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi has wrapped up his three-day state visit to Lesotho, where he identified new opportunities to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
Colonel (Rtd) Mohadi’s visit to Lesotho was a game-changer for strengthening bilateral ties between Harare and Maseru.
He joined top delegates at Lesotho’s 200th anniversary celebration, coinciding with the nation’s 58 years of independence.
The event also created a good pedestal for Zimbabwe to dangle investment opportunities both for locals based in Lesotho as well as Basotho businesses.
“There are several areas in which the Basotho can invest in Zimbabwe. We are looking at areas like skills transfer and also investments within the infrastructure sector which they can come and set up in Zimbabwe,” he said.
During Lesotho’s Prime Minister Samuel Matekane’s visit to the 44th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit, indications were made to expand cooperation in various sectors, including agriculture, renewable energy and education.
The Vice President noted such advancements are pivotal to bolstering regional cooperation.
He also reassured Zimbabweans living in Lesotho that the government will address the challenges posed by high work permit costs, which have been affecting their stay regularisation.
