THE Presidential Health Ambassadors Empowerment Fund was launched in Harare this Friday in a major show of support for frontline health workers in Zimbabwe.

Nurses and other frontline workers were the focus as the US$200 000 revolving fund, which will benefit members of the Health Ambassadors for Economic Development, including nurses, student health workers and other practitioners across the country, was officially launched to boost Zimbabwe’s health sector.

“We realise that the nurses of Zimbabwe are dedicated. They are there to serve the nation. The President is walking the talk. We are so happy,” Health Ambassadors for Economic Development Director, Mrs Nyaradzayi Chiwara said.

“I am a student nurse and I’m so excited. This is a life-changing opportunity. I am happy our President has remembered us. This will enhance our work delivery,” a beneficiary of the fund said

Dr Paul Tungwarara, Special Presidential Investment Adviser, highlighted the significance of the fund as a direct show of confidence in Zimbabwe’s health workers and the President’s commitment to uplifting the lives of Zimbabweans.

His Excellency sees you. He sees the tireless work you do in our clinics, our hospitals, and our communities. He understands the daily challenges you face, the long hours, the resource constraints, the sheer weight of responsibility you carry for the health and well-being of our nation.

“More importantly, His Excellency recognises your steadfast loyalty to Zimbabwe, your dedication to his vision of national development, and your crucial role as Health Ambassadors for ED, working directly within our communities.

“He knows that a healthy nation is the bedrock of progress. He knows that you, our health practitioners, are the frontline soldiers in this battle for national well-being. And he knows that empowering you is essential to empowering Zimbabwe itself.

“Therefore, acting on His Excellency’s direct mandate, I am greatly honoured and humbled to launch the Presidential Empowerment Fund for Health Ambassadors for ED. This Fund, my colleagues, is not just money. It is a direct expression of His Excellency’s faith in you and his determination to support your critical work. It comes straight from the President’s commitment to uplift every Zimbabwean, echoing his powerful call that we must leave no one and no place behind.”

ZANU PF Director General Brigadier General (Rtd) Ezekiel Zabanyana encouraged unity and unwavering focus among health ambassadors.

“United we stand, and divided we fall. Remain focused with perpetual optimism, which is an indispensable force multiplier. His Excellency the President of Zimbabwe is always seeking to promote, propel, protect and project your empowerment interests. That is why he always says, Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo. That is why he is leaving no one behind, including our nurses, health practitioners and boys dzaMudhara.”

The launch of the Health Ambassadors Empowerment Fund not only underscores the importance of health workers in national development but also reflects the ruling party and government’s commitment to inclusive empowerment.
