TWO Harare men, James Bonde (44) and Nomatter Chikuni (40) have appeared in court facing fraud allegations after they allegedly duped a man of US$24 000 in a botched land sale deal in Mazowe.
The duo arraigned before the Harare Magistrates Court after they allegedly misrepresented that they could facilitate the purchase of an 80-hectare piece of land at Sandhurst Farm in Mazowe District.
Court papers indicate that sometime in 2025, the complainant, Douglas Andrea was introduced to the accused, who then took him to Sandhurst Farm and showed him a piece of the land in question.
Andrea is said to have paid US$24 000 and was told to start developments while the accused were purportedly finalising paperwork with the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.
Andrea only discovered that he had been duped when the real owner of the farm identified as Mr Mapukuta appeared and produced paperwork for the farm.
The accused were granted US$150 bail each and they will be back in court on April 24.
