Africa-China media co-operation has been hailed for strengthening South-South relations, enhancing cultural understanding, boosting economic collaborations and empowering African voices.

The Editor in Chief of the Diplomats Extra Magazine of Nigeria, Raphael Oni, saluted the synergies between Africa and China this Friday while speaking at the founding ceremony of the Jinhua International Communications Centre in Zhejiang Province, China.

Mr Oni was speaking on behalf of invited African journalists who are attached to the China International Press Communication Centre in Beijing.

He said the Jinhua International Communications Centre is a milestone in the city’s journey towards enhanced global connectivity and cultural exchange.

Mr Oni was hopeful that the centre will facilitate meaningful dialogue, foster international co-operation and showcase Jinhua’s rich heritage.

He noted that through joint productions, training programmes and content sharing, a more inclusive global narrative of events in developing countries is being created adding that this will help in combating Western media propaganda which views anything African and Chinese as inferior and also in bad light.

Mr Oni said Africa-China media co-operation can b strengthened by collaborative news sharing, capacity building, exchange programmes and balanced representation at all fora.

He also highlighted the need to bridge the gap between cultures of the developing Global South family, foster mutual understanding and respect so as to have win-win situations in Africa-China relations.
