TWO new learning blocks have been commissioned at Shabani Primary School in Zvishavane District, a development set to improve the quality of education in the area.

The project, funded by parents and the school at a cost of more than US$15 000, is expected to ease pressure on classroom space and reduce congestion.

Excited parents, who attended the colourful event, said the construction of learning blocks will promote a conducive teaching and learning environment.

“We appreciate the realisation of our efforts as parents. This will play a key role in supporting the vision of our school, and as parents, we are very happy,” a parent said.

“We want to thank our school headmistress for coming up with this scheme that led to the development of these blocks. They will ease the burden of learning in a crowded environment, more so, I think this will increase the pass rate at this school,” a guardian said.

“We believe that good education is the key to a bright future. These new classroom blocks will help our children learn better and achieve their goals. We are very happy and excited as parents,” another parent added.

Government officials praised the community’s collaboration and highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in strengthening education delivery.

“The economy of any nation is as good as its education system. In this regard, the Midlands province commends the new dispensation under the stewardship of His Excellency, the President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, for transforming the education landscape through robust construction of schools supported by devolution funds, the church and private sector initiatives. Education is a shared responsibility, and with your collective support, we can ensure every child in the Midlands has access to quality and affordable education,” Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube, said.

The new classroom blocks are expected not only to improve learning conditions but also to attract and retain dedicated teachers, ensuring a brighter future for learners.
