A 42-year-old security guard from Dorowa has been sentenced to an effective 15 years in prison for abducting and repeatedly raping a 16-year-old girl he lured from a bus stop.
Doubt Dzenga was convicted by the Rusape Magistrates’ Court following a harrowing ordeal that began on the night of 17 January 2026.
The court heard that at around 10pm, the teenager was waiting alone at a bus stop for her brother-in-law when Dzenga approached her. He allegedly persuaded her to accompany him to his house, about 200 metres away.
Once inside the residence, Dzenga raped the minor and prevented her from leaving, holding her captive for three consecutive days.
The victim remained confined until 20 January 2026, when police acted on information supplied by members of the public regarding her whereabouts. Officers raided the premises and arrested Dzenga at the scene.
In a statement following the conviction, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe confirmed the circumstances of the offence.
“The offender lured the victim to his place of residence. Once at the house, the offender raped the victim and held her hostage at his residence for three days,” the authority said.
