SCOTTLAND FC’s preparations for the 2026 season have received a major boost after the Premier Soccer League champions confirmed a US$10 million sponsorship package to support both their domestic title defence and CAF Champions League ambitions.
The announcement was made during a kit unveiling ceremony held at Harare Sports Club this Friday, in what turned into a bold declaration of intent from the newly crowned champions.
Following a remarkable debut top-flight campaign that saw the club secure promotion and clinch the league title, Scottland have intensified preparations for the upcoming season.
Club Chairperson, Everson Chatambudza, revealed that the club has secured a US$10 million sponsorship package from various partners for the 2026 season.
Ecobank has committed US$1.5 million specifically towards the continental campaign, while IMC Communications, Sakunda Holdings, Swan Tobacco and Steelmate are among other corporates backing the project.
Beyond the financial injection, structural changes were also announced. Scottland have appointed seasoned coach Norman Mapeza to lead the technical team, bringing continental experience to the club’s ambitions. He will be supported by former Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu, who assumes the role of team manager.
The club has also strengthened its squad with the addition of midfielder Emmanuel Ziocha, Abubakar Moffat and striker Isaskar Gurirab, among other new signings.
“Our vision is clear, we want to retain the Premier Soccer League title and compete strongly in the CAF Champions League. This support from our partners gives us the foundation to build a team that represents Zimbabwe with pride on the continent,” said Chatambudza.
The event attracted several high-profile guests, including American hip-hop artist Rick Ross, Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Kazembe Kazembe, legislator Chamu Chiwanza and Nqobile Magwizi, President of Zimbabwe Football Association.
Outside the venue, 27 brand-new vehicles designated for players were paraded, symbolising the scale of investment behind the project.
Government also commended the initiative.
Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Emily Jesaya, said, “We applaud Scottland for the excitement they are bringing to Zimbabwean football. Their investment in development structures and infrastructure complements Government’s National Development Strategy and demonstrates how sport can contribute meaningfully to national growth.”
In a symbolic finale, the new Scottland jersey for the season, signed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa was auctioned for US$1 million and purchased by Sakunda Holdings, with proceeds directed towards the club’s 2026 campaign.
For a club that only recently arrived in the top flight, Friday night made one thing unmistakably clear, Scottland’s unveiling was not merely about a new kit, but a bold statement of intent.
