DEFENDING champions, Scottland, will be hunting for their first win of the season when they take on Ngezi Platinum Stars in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter set for Rufaro Stadium this Friday.
The match carries added intrigue as Ngezi Platinum were the first side to beat Scottland during last season’s title-winning run, a result that still lingers in the minds of many.
The Mabvuku-based side opened their season with a draw against new boys Hardrock and will be looking to turn that point into momentum as they chase their first victory of the new campaign.
Their opponents, Ngezi Platinum, however, arrive in a confident mood after collecting maximum points in their opening match of the season against FC Platinum.
The defending champions believe they are well-balanced to cater for the different challenges posed by Madamburo.
“We are ready for the match, the fitness levels continue to improve, and the upcoming match is not going to be easy. Ngezi is playing good football, I managed to watch their match; they were very impressive, but we also have players and skills to counter that, the players know what is at stake in the first match at home and when the going gets tough, we have experienced guys to call upon who have been there before,” Scottland coach Norman Mapeza said.
Scottland have a clean bill of health with defenders Issaka Mohammed and Godknows Murwira having returned to training after missing the opening encounter against Hardrock.
