THE regional investor delegation capped the 7th SADC Industrialisation Week by touring the vast operations of one of the country’s leading food processor, National Foods in Harare this Friday which boasts of modern industrial processes, having invested immensely in new technology to augment capacity.

National Foods Chief Executive Officer Mr Michael Lashbrook outlined the company’s industrial operations to the delegation, including its export strategy for the region.

“National Foods is a diversified producer of several fast-moving consumer goods in the country employing thousands of people. We have got operations dotted around the country,” he said.

The food processor has also added its capacity by installing a new pasta and biscuit plant.

“We have managed to add capacity to our plant by installing a new pasta plant that will reduce imports of pasta and a biscuit factory that will all diversify our product with a view to export to other SADC countries,” said Mr Lashbrook.

The SADC delegation also toured various other local industrial giants, including edible oil manufacturer Olivine which is partly owned by the government of Zimbabwe.

Other firms that were toured in Harare include Davipel, Khayah, Kefalos, Irvines, Dairibord and Delta Beverages.
