FC Platinum are not reading much into CAPS United’s recent poor form as they square off in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match set for Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
FC Platinum have not lost to CAPS United since 2018 and are in red-hot form ahead of the match against Makepekepe which is struggling, having not won in the last five encounters.
If the form book is to go by, FC Platinum are going into this match as favourites.
After thumping Herentals 3-1 at Mandava Stadium last Sunday, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is approaching the game with caution.
“We are playing a good side on Sunday although they have been struggling, we can’t take away their quality. We have been preparing this game since Monday and our focus is to remain on top of the log standings. We will not undermine their prowess they are a big club with big ambitions. What is important for us it go there with a positive mind and approach and win the game,” said Mapeza.
Elsewhere, Makepekepe are hoping to find a saviour in new signing, Cameroonian Manuel Joseph Mbollo.
The big striker signed from Bamboutos FC in Cameroon and CAPS United are sweating over his work permit.
CAPS United president Farai Jere said, “We identified where our problem was because we were creating chances but not scoring now we have brought in a striker that we hope to unleash on Sunday against FC Platinum if we manage to secure the work permit in time.”
PSL action, however, starts on Saturday as Herentals welcome ZPC Kariba to Rufaro Stadium, and Chicken Inn host Manica Diamonds at Luveve Stadium.
