Rugare murder suspect nabbed

ANOTHER suspect who allegedly took part in fatally assaulting a suspected thief in Harare’s Rugare suburb has been nabbed bringing to five the number of suspects facing murder charges.

Mob justice against a suspected thief ended fatally in Rugare after the victim succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.

The latest suspect to be nabbed in connection with the murder is 44-year-old Bwanoos Matoto who also allegedly took part in assaulting the victim.

It is alleged that Matoto accused the victim of stealing his white church garments before joining the mob to assault the suspected thief.

Four other suspects, Gift Kamupira (49), Sirivako Davson Kagwa (69), Stephen Albert Phiri (65) and Barabara Kumodzi (40) have already been placed on remand after being charged with the murder of the suspected thief.

The four attacked the now deceased accusing him of stealing maize cobs from a maize field owned by one of them.

The accused allegedly used various weapons to assault the victim who bled to death.

They were all remanded in custody pending trial.
