Regional integration key in fighting external threats

Story by Peter Chivhima

COOPERATION between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) armed forces has been identified as key in maintaining regional peace and fighting external threats.

This was emphasised during the graduation ceremony of 36 students from the 66th Senior Non-Commissioned Management Course at Manyame Air Force Base this Friday.

The Guest of Honour and Air Force of Zimbabwe Chief of Staff Supporting Services, Air Vice Marshal Selebale Masera emphasised the significance of regional integration as the 36 drawn from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS), and allied forces graduated.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the graduates who have completed this rigorous training programme. Your dedication and hard work have truly paid off, and you should take pride in your achievements. This training has equipped you to excel in your future endeavours,” Air Vice Marshal Masera said.

“You have showcased your capacity to lead, manage, and inspire others, and I am confident that you will continue to make valuable contributions to your respective countries and organisations.”

AFZ graduand Master, Sergeant Shylet Mlambo also expressed gratitude, acknowledging the invaluable support received throughout the course.

“This experience has been eye-opening, and we have gained the confidence needed to perform our duties effectively,” she said.

Zimbabwe has been actively collaborating with other regional forces on several missions, including in countries such as South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mozambique.
