GOVERNMENT has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive land ownership through the Presidential Title Deeds Programme, partnering with private sector players to expand housing initiatives. More than 30 homeowners in King City, Bulawayo, received their title deeds this Friday, granting them legal ownership and security over their properties.
The beneficiaries, who had already built their houses in the area, welcomed the move, which provides them with legal ownership and greater security over their properties.
“I want to thank the government for giving us our title deeds, as this gives us assurance to build and invest in our land without fear,” one homeowner said.
“We have been waiting for this since last year, so to finally receive our papers today means the world to us,” another added.
The beneficiaries of this housing scheme, a result of a collaboration between Government and the private sector, praised the Second Republic for prioritising their welfare.
“There is no greater security than having title deeds of a property that you own. It is really a joyous day for us,” another beneficiary said.
This housing initiative is an indication of Government’s commitment to upscale housing delivery in line with Vision 2030.
“This project aligns with the national vision, it is a key step towards realising the National Development Strategy 2 goals,” Minister of Local Government and Public Works Honourable Daniel Garwe said.
“The government’s clarion call for an upper middle-income economy by 2030 is attainable as we play a part as private developers,” Radar Holdings Chief Executive Officer, Mr Elias Hwenga said.
Radar Properties Chairperson, Mr Tafadzwa Nyamayi, said the development closely aligns with the country’s visions and aspirations being spearheaded by the Second Republic.
“We are particularly proud that this event aligns so powerfully with the national vision. This handover is a tangible step in the realisation of the National Development Strategy 2. By providing secure tenure, we are not just creating stands, we are building the bedrock of a stable and prosperous society. It also directly supports the Government’s Urban Management Policy, transforming land into organised, dignified, and bankable communities. Today, Kings City stands as a testament of what is possible when private enterprise and government policy work together.”
To date, over 1 600 stands have been developed through this collaboration between Government and King City.
